OUGD503 / RESPONSIVE: Studio brief 1 :Feline Wild Cattery.

OUGD503 / RESPONSIVE.
BRIEF FOUR.
FELINE WILD CATTERY.

I was approached by the owner of Feline wild Cattery to create some branding to represent the company.

Feline Wild is a cattery based in the North of England whom began breeding bengal cats and now specialises in the breeding of Savannah cats. The cattery has been in business for almost 4 years and has become well known for his improvements in the breeds and the lovable environment in which each cat is brought up in, treating each as if they were his own lifetime pets. The cats bred are sold as both pets and as future breeders.

Bengals and Savannahs are both hybrid cats. Bengals are created when domestic feline cats are mated with Asian leopard cats. The cats bred are therefore part wild cat, famous for their prominent rosetted spots.

Savannah cats are created when a domestic cat is mated with a wild serval. These cats are known for their dark black spots, long legs and large ears. Feline wild specialise in the breeding of serval cats as, the bengal breed is now very strong as can be seen between the asian leopard cat and the bengal above, they look very similar. However the Savannah breed still has many improvements it can undergo and therefore Is the main focus of Thomas' efforts and investments.

The cattery currently houses 11 savannahs and 5 bengals, and with a view for expansion and major renovation within the next month, Thomas is looking for a new brand to go hand in hand with his ever growing cattery. The pieces I have been asked to produce are a logo, business card and a folder. The folder which I am to produce, is something that Thomas hands out to new owners of the cats containing relevant forms for each of the cats such as family trees, a vaccination sheet and a care plan, with added information about the breed.

Thomas offered me a few pieces of information concerning how he would like to be presented within his company and the reflective brand.
He stated that it was very important for the brand to appear unisex. It is very stereotypical for people to class the cat as a womens pet. For example the magazine Your cat, has a clear focus on a feminine audience, with a products page in which they list a number of cat related items which can be purchased such as bags, scarves and other miscellaneous items. However with the integration of hybrids and wild cat types, the appeal of having a cat has become more of an attractive prospect to men, and therefore the audience of this industry has widened to include them too.
The brand must encapsulate both the friendly, loveable and warm persona of the cattery, and the relationship between Tom and his clients. However must also communicate the quality of Toms breeding program and the great results of his litters of kittens.

Savannah Male kittens range from £750 - £5000.
Savannah Female kittens range from £750 - £10000.

Bengal Male kittens range from £750 - £1500.
Savannah Female kittens range from £750 - £3000.

Colours to stay away from:
- Pink
- Purple
- Red
- Anything too feminine.

Overall the Cattery needs to be represented in a welcoming way, with a love for breeding healthy cats of a wild appearance and affectionate temperament.
Keeping in mind that Toms s are aged between 25 and 40, and are those will the disposable income/ want to spend large amounts on pets, or already have a keen interest in the breed, this part of the audience are usually those who spend the largest amount of money. The audience is both of Male and Female interest.
